Texas State University Students on Martin Foundry Plant
Tour (left to right)
Joshua DeLeon, Arabie Shane, Ana Alvarado, Dr. Velasco,
James Hollinshead, Jephte Medois. |
The students from Texas State spent nearly a half a day touring all
the departments at Martin Foundry learning about Green Sand, Air
Set No-Bake Sand Systems, Shell Cores & Oil Sand Core Operations
and my favorite, the Melting Department. We love to see the
molten metal flowing in the back ground. Later in the evening
the students along with Dr. Velasko attended the Texas Chapter
AFS Meeting at the Petroleum Club in Fort Worth.

We appreciate Martin Foundry along with Chuck Shykes, Foundry
Manager and Johnny Hill, Foundry Plant Superintendant for
opening their doors to the students and sharing their combined
60 plus years and wealth of knowledge in the metal casting
industry. I would like to also thank Texas State University and
Dr. Velasko for taking the time to bring the students to the
Metroplex. We feel it is vital to our industry to get students
from our area universities interested in metal casting and
manufacturing in general. It is never too early to get our
younger generation involved and educated about our industry. |
