Steve Reynolds, AFS National President, talks to the Texas Chapter about Safety.



 

Steve delivered his talk on “Safety, a Many Splintered Thing”.

Steve is a second generation Foundryman and lifelong resident of Lufkin Texas, where his father worked for Texas Foundry for 32 years. He is a 1971 graduate of Lufkin High School and began his Foundry career while attending Angelina Junior College. His first foundry assignment was in the cleaning room at Texas Metal Casting Company, a small Aluminum and Bronze foundry in Lufkin. He later moved to the foundry machine shop and continued working as a machinist while attending Lamar University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1978.

Steve returned to Texas Metal Casting Co. and served as Plant Engineer until joining Lufkin Industries in 1981 as a Project Engineer. While at Lufkin Industries Foundry Division, Steve has served as Senior Project Engineer, Chief Engineer, Plant Manager, and currently Foundry General Manager. Steve is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, past director and chairman of the Texas Chapter of the American Foundry Society, past National director of AFS and past chairman and current director of the Texas Cast Metals Association. Currently serving as National President of the AFS, Steve is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and a member of the Alpha Pi Mu Industrial Engineering Honor Society. He also serves on the Engineering Advisory Board for Texas State University.

Steve has been married to his wife Shirley for 29 years and they have three children, Chad, LeAnn, and Christopher. They are active members of Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin.
